Whiskey Rebels at Friendship Hill

News Release: Park staff and the Friendship Hill Association invite the public to visit Albert Gallatin’s home to commemorate the Whiskey Rebellion. On September 2 and Sept. 3, 2023, programs and displays will be offered at Friendship Hill National Historic Site. Programs include blacksmithing, wood carving, pottery, quilting and other educational displays. On Saturday, the Westmoreland Archaeological Club will display their collection.

Twin Firs Fire Burning in Mount Rainier National Park

News Release: A half-acre fire is burning in Mount Rainier National Park, Superintendent Greg Dudgeon announced this morning. The Twin Firs Fire was started by a lightning strike on Friday morning, Aug. 25, and is currently burning in old growth forest about 1200 feet north of the park’s Nisqually Road between Kautz Creek and the Twin Firs Trail.


Tourism to Weir Farm National Historical Park contributes $2,508,000 to local economy

News Release: WILTON/RIDGEFIELD - A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 37,977 visitors to Weir Farm National Historical Park in 2022 spent $2,508,000 in communities near the park. That spending supported 27 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $3,619,000.

Preservation efforts underway on Mormon Row historic buildings

News Release: MOOSE, WY-The National Park Service and Grand Teton National Park Foundation are working in partnership to preserve and rehabilitate buildings at the historic Roy Chambers Homestead, which is part of the Mormon Row Historic District in Grand Teton National Park. The Mormon Row Road will be closed from north of Ditch Creek to south of the Roy Chambers site through October for renovation activities.
