The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual spring high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River, March 27- 31, 2023.

The Commission will host public meetings in select towns along the Mississippi River, with commission members meeting with local partners, stakeholders, and residents. Members will listen to public concerns, ideas, and issues during each meeting. Memphis District meeting dates, times, and locations are as follows:

All DoD-mandated COVID safety protocols from recent trips are no longer in place at this time. Please continue to monitor MRC and local U.S. Army Corps of Engineers websites and social media pages for COVID protocol-related information. 

All meetings are open to the public and will follow the below agenda:

1.            The President of the Commission will provide a summary report on national and regional issues affecting the Army Corps of Engineers and Commission programs and projects on the Mississippi and its tributaries.

2.            District Commanders will provide the Commission with an overview of current project issues in their respective area.

3.            Local organizations and members of the public will present views and comments on any issue affecting the Commission and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers programs or projects.

An Act of Congress established the Mississippi River Commission on June 28, 1879. Headquartered in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the work of the MRC is directed by its president and carried out by U.S. Army Corps of Engineer districts. In its current capacity, the MRC is charged with prosecuting the Mississippi River and Tributaries project that was authorized through the historic 1928 Flood Control Act.
