The Bureau of Reclamation announced that beginning March 27, 2023, the Main Outlet Drain Extension’s (MODE) siphon inlet and outlet portals will be temporarily closed to accommodate debris and sediment removal and structural inspection.

The siphon inlet and outlet construction area is located adjacent to the Colorado River, with the siphon’s inlet located east of the Yuma Territorial Prison and its outlet located north of the Colorado River State Historic Park, east of the 4th Avenue (Winterhaven Dr.) Bridge.

The siphon inlet and outlet construction areas will be closed through June 6, 2023, to remove accumulated debris, trash, and sediment blocking water flow. During the siphon cleanout process, the contractor will erect temporary fencing and signs to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the construction areas.

General access to pedestrians, via bike lanes or road access at the siphon inlet and outlet construction areas, will be restricted for public safety.

Questions or comments about the project should be directed to Doug Hendrix, Public Affairs Specialist, with the Bureau of Reclamation at (702) 293-8391 or via email at dhendrix@usbr.gov.
