The Bureau of Land Management will implement an online reservation system for overnight camping for the Pumphouse and Radium campgrounds in the Upper Colorado River Recreation Area on April 3, 2023. The recreation.gov online reservation system will help manage the increased popularity of the area and ensure campsite availability prior to arrival.

“Increased visitation on public lands has made camping difficult in popular recreation sites in Colorado” said Field Manager Stephen Leonard. “We are excited to open the online reservation system and create a better experience for public land users while protecting natural resources.”

Reservations can be booked for both campgrounds starting April 3, 2023, at recreation.gov with availability starting on May 1 and can be booked up to six months in advance. Reservations must be made prior to arrival. There will be limited single sites available for first come first serve availability before campgrounds transition to reservation only next year. Visitors may make online reservations at www.recreation.gov or call (877) 444-6777.

The Pumphouse Campground fee for a single campsite is $10 per night and the Radium Campground fee is $6 per night. The fee at both campgrounds for group campsites for up to 30 people is $30 per night. A $8 Recreation.gov transaction fee also applies for each reservation.

Camping fees are directly invested into the recreation area from which they are collected through operation, maintenance, and improvements to parking, boat ramps, trails, and other services offered at the campgrounds.
