Need to take a breather and get a break from all of life’s stresses and woes? Come join Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park at Larue County Library for a meditation workshop. The event will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023, and is hosted by the National Park Service as part of their Wellness Programming.
The Meditation Basics for Stress Relief workshop is free and will consist of two sessions: the first at 12:00 p.m. and the second at 1:00 p.m. (ET). Each session will last approximately 40 minutes. Participants need to sign up on Karma Yoga’s website (https://karmayogaetown.com/sign-up/), as there are only 20 spots available per session. Both sessions will include an overview and introduction to meditation discussion, which will cover the history, types, and benefits of meditation, as well as a short, guided meditation. The Lincoln’s lived in some of the most challenging time for our nation. Both the President and his wife struggled with their own mental and emotional health as they coped with the American Civil War and their own personal loses. This workshop is held in honor of both of them.
The park asks that participants bring their own mats. The library will provide chairs for use, if preferred. Be sure to also wear comfortable clothing that does not constrict movement.
