WEAVERVILLE, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management is welcoming public comments on a proposed project to improve fire resiliency and restore forest health on public lands near Weaverville in Trinity County.
The Oregon Mountain Forest Health Thinning and Fuels Reduction Project would cover about 140 acres within the Weaverville Community Forest. It would include thinning the timber stand, reducing brush and other hazardous fuels, and restoring oak woodlands. The project would also involve post thinning work to remove vegetation piles and further address hazardous fuels.

The BLM will also accept comments via email to cendicott@blm.gov. Comments are due by April 27, 2023.
The BLM partners with the Trinity County Resource Conservation District to manage federal lands within the community forest, which supports recreation access and the production of timber and firewood. The Forest Service also partners on management of National Forest lands within the community forest boundaries.
