The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 31. It is reproduced in full below.

Join us on Saturday, April 29th for our Spring Star Gazing (rain date is May 6th)! The night is planned as follows:

8:00-8:30 Dakota/Lakota constellations in the visitor center theater with Ranger Gabe Yellowhawk

8:30-10:00 Star gazing with Drs. Grau and Browning and Astrophotography with Marty Dewitt (bring your DSLR or mirrorless camera & tripod)

This is always a relaxed event, so feel free to also bring your own telescopes or binoculars and hang out with other night sky enthusiasts. Please arrive by 8:00pm so vehicle headlights don’t negatively impact the event.

All events are free and open to the public (including the cider, cocoa, and snacks - while supplies last). Bring layers and any questions about the cosmos you may have!

For additional information, visit the Monument’s Facebook page or web site at https://www.facebook.com/PipestoneNPS or https://www.nps.gov/pipe/index.htm.
