Join staff and volunteers for the annual Earth Day clean-up at Indiana Dunes National Park. This year’s clean-up is on Friday, April 21, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. and is sponsored by the Friends of Indiana Dunes, Mermaid Straw, and the national park’s volunteer office.

Family, friends, neighbors, and park employees will join forces to collect a winter’s worth of trash and debris from roadsides, beaches, the Little Calumet River, and the hiking trails of Indiana Dunes Country to help beautify the park areas and make the region a cleaner place to live.

“Participating in the clean-up is a great way to take pride in your community, celebrate the spring, and enjoy your local national park” said Volunteer Program Manager Jim Whitenack.

No preregistration is required. Just show up at the Dorothy Buell Visitor Center at 1215 N. State Road 49 in Porter, Indiana between 9:00 am -12:00 pm to register. Participants will be assigned clean-up areas during registration and given trash bags and any needed equipment.

For more information on this or other volunteer programs at Indiana Dunes National Park, please contact the park’s Volunteer Office at 219-221-7098.
