Anglers can now visit the park’s Fishing web page (https://www.nps.gov/vall/planyourvisit/fishing.htm) to fill out an application for their 2023-24 fishing permit. A State of New Mexico fishing license is required to fish within Valles Caldera and a backcountry vehicle pass is required for those wishing to drive into the backcountry to fish. 

The Fishing web page also provides information on obtaining a State of New Mexico fishing license, fishing rules and regulations, and fishing location descriptions and maps.
