The Bureau of Reclamation and the Orland Unit Water Users’ Association concluded negotiations for a contract for the repayment of extraordinary maintenance costs for the Stony Gorge Spillway Gate Replacement Project. The negotiated draft contract is now available for a 14-day public review period.
The $3 million Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investment to the Orland Project announced on May 9 will be used to design and plan the extraordinary maintenance work and necessary repairs to restore the safe, long-term operation of the Stony Gorge spillway gates to minimize risk to public health or safety and to property.
The Stony Gorge Reservoir is owned by Reclamation as part of the Orland Project and operated and maintained by the Orland Unit Water Users’ Association since 1954.
Section 9603 of Public Law 111-11 authorizes Reclamation to provide funds for the design, planning, and construction of extraordinary maintenance work and to negotiate a contract for repayment of those costs. The Orland Unit Water Users’ Association has requested assistance to complete necessary repairs to restore long-term operation of the spillway gates.
