The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 11. It is reproduced in full below.

The National Park Service’s National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom added the Archive at the North Star Underground Railroad Museum to the Network in 2023. The Archive at the North Star Underground Railroad Museum is listed in the Network to Freedom as a facility that includes an archive of New York Underground Railroad history as well as Underground Railroad operative Stephen Keese Smith’s memoirs. The museum is already in the Network as a program highlighting the research of the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association, founded by Don and Vivian Papson. In 2019, the building which contains the museum was formally donated to the association and continues to share these stories today.
