The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 15. It is reproduced in full below.

Help conserve the environment, gain valuable job experience, and have fun working with Pipestone National Monument’s Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crew this summer. The YCC program provides an opportunity for 15-18 year olds to do conservation work and learn about the Monument’s natural and cultural heritage.

Participants will spend most of their time working in the outdoors and will assist with exotic species control, scientific monitoring and study, and grounds and facility upkeep. The crew will be supervised by Monument staff and provided all necessary training and equipment to have a safe, fun, and productive summer.

"The YCC was an amazing experience. I enjoyed the hands-on work and learning about the historical significance of Pipestone. The program helped me find potential career paths," said Angel Vazquez, who served at the park in 2021 and 2022.

The eight-week program is scheduled to run from June 5th through July 28th, 2023. Participants will work a 40-hour week at the rate of $15 per hour. All interested area youth 15-18 years old, who are permanent residents of the United States, are eligible to apply. No prior experience is necessary. We’re looking for youth who want to work hard, learn, and be part of a team.
