Join Park Rangers at Springfield Armory National Historic Site for special family programs during school vacation week, Wednesday April 19 – 23. Each day families can do Junior Ranger activities to earn a Junior Ranger badge, create nature journals, buttons, or postcards, or join special themed programs. Activities are free and available for all ages. The Armory is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

 

Wednesday, April 19th Learn about the life of Revolutionary War Patriot Soldiers including historical demonstrations of cartridge making.  

 

Saturday, April 22nd The Homefront Victory Garden. Did you know that there were more than 200,000 Victory Gardens planted during WWII across the United States? More than one million tons of vegetables were grown in Victory Gardens during WWII. Talk with Ed & Deborah Chrzanowski, see their display and learn more about gardens and rationing on the Homefront.   

 

Putnam Vocational Technical Academy Photography Exhibit, Celebrating Our Nation’s Promise, features local veterans and those currently serving in the military to honor their legacy, and highlight the joy, fellowship, commitment, and hope of our collective Springfield community.
