The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has made a closure to a small section of road along the bottom of Arkabutla Dam. The closure affects the only the section of roadway above the outlet tunnel. The closure will not affect the remainder of the road across the bottom of the dam, the road across the top of the dam, or either side of the outlet channel recreation area. Visitors traveling north along Arkabutla Dam Road/MS Hwy. 301 will need to take the road across the top of Arkabutla Dam.

The closure is needed for repairs above the area to be completed. There is no definite timeline for the closure. We will alert visitors once the area has been reopened.

For additional information, contact the Arkabutla Lake Field Office 662-562-6261.

The USACE Vicksburg District is engineering solutions to the nation’s toughest challenges. The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana, that holds nine major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline Mississippi River levees.
