Indiana Dunes National Park and Indiana Dunes Tourism have partnered to offer Drop-In Volunteering, a no-hassle volunteer option for those looking to help out at the Indiana Dunes. Opportunities will be available nearly every day of the week and will include stewardship, restoration, park clean-up, and more.
On Saturday, May 20, and on the third Saturday of every month, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, meet at the Chellberg Farm parking lot for a morning of stewardship in your national park.
Daily, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, stop by the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center at 1215 North State Road 49, Porter, Indiana or the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education at 100 North Lake Street, Gary, Indiana for the “Trash Trekkers” program. Grab a bag and help keep our beaches and trails clean.
No formal commitment is necessary; simply drop-in at any of these locations during program hours to get started.Remember to dress appropriately for the work you will be doing; wear comfortable outdoor clothing and bring sunscreen, bug spray and water. The national park will provide gear and training to anyone interested in lending a hand to preserve the Indiana Dunes.
