Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) will hold a hearing titled “Risky Business: Costly Inaction on Federal Legacy IT.” The hearing will examine the need to replace aging information technology (IT) systems used by the federal government and will explore the dangers in the continued operation of these legacy systems, as well as solutions to accelerate their overhaul.

“As information technology systems used by the federal government age and become outdated, they cause major security risks. These systems run on archaic software code, function poorly, are costly, and are increasingly vulnerable to malicious hackers. To plan for the future, Congress needs to help agencies modernize, improve, retire, or replace existing federal legacy IT systems,” said Subcommittee Chairwoman Mace.
