Shortly after the Confederate army left the area, Northern photographers ventured out to the battlefield to document the landscape. George Barnard captured this image of Henry Hill in March 1862 from approximately where you now stand. Only ruins remained of the Henry house. War returned to this ground later that summer, when the battle-scarred farm witnessed the climactic fighting of Second Manassas.
