Tule Lake National Monument will be open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The visitor center is located at 44340 Hwy 139, about eight miles south of Tulelake CA and will be opened Thursday - Monday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Access to the Segregation Center Jail is available by ranger-guided tour only. Tours are offered five days a week, Thursday - Monday and are approximately 90 minutes in length. Please call (530) 260-0537 to make a reservation. The Lava Beds National Monument park entrance fee is $25.00 per car unless you have one of the National Park passes. You can pay the fee either at the fee station or the visitor center. Rangers will be available daily at the Lava Beds visitor center from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to answer questions and provide information about the park. These hours will begin on Friday May 26, 2023. The park staff will provide various programs on weekends, including cave tours and evening programs at the campground. Programs will begin in time for the Fourth of July weekend.
Many of the developed caves are open. Please do not enter a cave until you have received a cave permit. They are available either at the entrance station or the visitor center. There are several seasonal cave closures on cave loop road to protect fragile bat colonies and they are clearly marked.
The Indian Well Campground is open, and sites are first come, first serve. The cost is $10.00 per night, per site. The group campsite is available by reservation only and can accommodate 15 - 40 people. For more information, please visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/labe.
