The following press releases was published by the Bureau of Land Management on May 26. It is reproduced in full below.

CASPER, Wyo. - Today, the Bureau of Land Management Casper Field Office reopened Muddy Mountain Road for the summer.

Located south of Casper Mountain, Muddy Mountain Road is the primary access route to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, which includes the Rim and Lodgepole campgrounds and numerous recreation trails.

Please note, water is not available at the campgrounds at this time. Additionally, the temporary warming shed placed for snowmobilers has not yet been removed and is partially blocking access to the lower (Lodgepole) campground.

Muddy Mountain Road closes on an annual basis for public safety and resource protection. The closure normally runs from the end of November through the beginning of June. Portions of the Muddy Mountain Road are still wet and partially covered in snow. The public is reminded to stay on established roads and trails to prevent resource damage.

For more information about the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, please visit: https://www.blm.gov/visit/muddy-mountain-environmental-education-area, or call the Casper Field Office at (307) 261-7600.
