CASPER, Wyo. – Join the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center on May 27 for the first trail trek of the summer. On this Saturday’s trek, participants will travel to the Douglas, Wyo., area to learn about a site known to pioneers as the “Black Hills Route.”
Trail trek participants will meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the Trails Center at 1501 N. Poplar St. in Casper and depart shortly after. Treks are driving trips with numerous stops in-between, and trekkers will need to drive their own vehicle or carpool. Sites may have uneven surfaces and primitive trails with elevation changes and may not be suitable for everyone. Bring a lunch, water, snacks, and wear appropriate clothing and shoes suitable for walking. We recommend a high-clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Weekend Programs at the Trails Center
Can’t make the trail trek? Stop by the Trails Center at 1 p.m. on May 27 for a special presentation with Yufna Soldier Wolf, Northern Arapaho. Soldier Wolf will share her oral traditions and the importance of them among the Arapaho culture. Learn how she and others are currently preserving these traditions and hear what inspires her in her daily life.
