On Saturday afternoon and evening May 27, Balladeer Linda Russell will be at Fort Stanwix National Monument to present 18th Century music. These free performances are part of the War for Empire, French & Indian War Weekend.
From 1 to 5 pm Saturday afternoon, Ms. Russell will present informal performances inside the fort. The fort reopens at 6:30 pm for a free evening concert beginning at 7:00 pm. The park has limited seating available, so visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the fort’s Gregg Barracks. Ms. Russell will also give additional informal performances Sunday, May 28 from 9:30 to noon.
“We are excited to welcome back Ms. Russell for this special concert,” said park ranger William Sawyer. “As music was instrumental to life in the 18th Century, her interactive presentations truly allow history to come alive.”
Accompanying herself on hammered and mountain dulcimers, guitar and penny whistle, Linda Russell explores history through music. Having served for many years as a balladeer for the National Park Service at Federal Hall on Wall Street, the site of Washington’s inauguration, Ms. Russell now performs her music throughout the country.
