MOBILE, Ala. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District has been inquired by several members of the public regarding the recent restriction of access to Lake Lanier from the Margaritaville at Lanier Islands shoreline.

Per the lease agreement between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Margaritaville hospitality company, the lessee is within their rights to restrict water access around the property due to concerns of safety.

The recreational enjoyment of our Lake Lanier project is vital to the Mobile District and operates several day-use parks surrounding the lake with access to boating and swimming.

With an area of operation across Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and northern Florida, and a vast military region that includes operations across Central and South America, the Mobile District’s award- winning teams of engineering, construction, regulatory and emergency management professionals are nationally recognized for their leadership in delivery of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ civil works and military programs missions to the Nation.
