The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 5. It is reproduced in full below.

Annapolis City Dock is a bustling hub in the historic heart of Annapolis, MD. City Dock has served as an important port within Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay region for at least 350 years. Though City Dock served as a site for warehouses, shipping, and trade, it also stood as one of the regions and country’s earliest slave ports. City Dock shares this history with numerous plaques and markers indicating its infamous role in the Atlantic Slave Trade.

Today, City Dock continues to connect its residents with the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and businesses of the region. Just a quick walk from City Dock will bring tourists and visitors to Main Street which is populated with dozens of unique and locally owned shops, restaurants, pubs, inns and more. “Ego Alley" is another popular attraction of City Dock where owners can parade their boats down the alley.
