HARTWELL, Ga. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Hartwell Lake Project Office, announces the Group Picnic Shelter at Poplar Springs Recreation Area in Franklin Co., Ga., is now open for reservations. 

The shelter was closed during 2022, but is now open for events such as, birthday parties, family reunions, meetings, and other group outings with 48 or less people in attendance. 

The picnic shelter is lake front and features a large cooking grill, tables, electricity, water, and shelter lighting. There are restrooms and a boat launching ramp within the park. 

The shelter must be reserved at least three days in advance and the cost is $75 for a day. 

Poplar Springs Recreation Area is located at 2195 Poplar Springs Road, Lavonia, Ga. 

Picnic shelter reservations for Poplar Springs Recreation Area, as well as picnic shelters at other Army Corps’ managed recreation areas, can be made online at www.Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.
