The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 7. It is reproduced in full below.

The Chesapeake Heritage & Visitor Center is located on Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County, MD and acquaints visitors with Chesapeake Bay experiences in the region. The center itself is home to the Chesapeake Legacy Museum which features exhibits that focus on the history, heritage, and culture of the area. One exhibit also displays a quarterly rotating art series, featuring artwork from local artists.

The center is within driving distance of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and hosts several outdoor viewing areas to take in the breathtaking views of the waterfront and island. The 6.5-mile Cross Island Trail is a rail trail which connects to the center and allows visitors to bike or walk the length of Kent Island. Also located on the property is the entrance to Ferry Point Park, a local park that includes a large boardwalk, marshland, and walking trail over the Chester River.
