Roosevelt, AZ –Tonto National Monument will implement fire restrictions beginning Thursday June 8, 2023. These restrictions coincide with similar restrictions going into effect on other public lands in southern Arizona. The fire restrictions prohibit the following acts:
- Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, a developed recreation site/improved site or while stopped in an area at least (3) feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of any flammable material. [36 CFR 2.21(a)]
We ask the public to please recreate safely and responsibly. Avoid high-risk outdoor activities, follow local area health orders, practice Leave No Trace principles, and avoid crowding.
