Special U.S. Postal Service Pictorial Postmark offered at Morristown National Historical Park July 4, 2023

Morristown, NJ- On July 4 a special U.S. Postal Service Pictorial Postmark will be offered at Morristown National Historical Park (NHP) to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the dedication of the park.

The cancellation station will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Morristown NHP’s Washington’s Headquarters Museum, 30 Washington Place, Morristown, New Jersey.

In the museum auditorium, a representative of the U.S. Postal Service will provide “hand-back service" where a visitor can present an addressed or unaddressed envelope, postal card, or other item with sufficient First-Class Mail postage to the postal clerk, who will apply the pictorial postmark and then hand the item(s) back to the visitor.

NO STAMPS WILL BE SOLD AT THE EVENT. Please note: Because July 4 is a Federal Holiday, stamps will not be sold at the cancellation station-the First-Class postage must already be affixed by the visitor to the item(s) to be cancelled.

Two hundred free Morristown NHP post cards with stamps will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for visitors to participate in the special postmark opportunity. The 200 post cards with stamps are being made available courtesy of Eastern National and the Washington Association of New Jersey (WANJ), and can be picked up July 4 at WANJ’s information table at Washington’s Headquarters.
