HODGENVILLE, KY - Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will hold a public meeting concerning the removal of ash trees surrounding the Sinking Spring site. The meeting will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (EST) at the Birthplace Unit Visitor Center located at 2995 Lincoln Farm Road in Hodgenville.
In 2022, six ash trees surrounding the Sinking Spring at the Birthplace Unit were identified as being infected with the non-native Emerald Ash Borer. Once infected, ash trees can develop serious structural defects and pose an increased risk to the public. Removing these trees will ensure a safe environment.
Park staff will be available to discuss plans for removing the trees and to answer questions about this project.
For more information about the meeting, please call the park at 270-358-3137, visit the park’s Facebook page at https:www.facebook.com/LincolnBirthplaceNPS, or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/abli.
