On Sunday, June 25, Fort Stanwix National Monument will host a ranger-led bicycle tour of the Mohawk River Trail that will leave from the park visitor center at 10:30 am. Due to the terrain and distance, approximately 8 miles round-trip, this ride is recommended for those ages 10 and older.

“Now that summer is in full swing, a bike ride is the perfect way to explore local sites and scenes while take advantage of the fresh air,” said Ranger Dan Umstead, “Come join us and have some fun while you get your body moving.”

The pace will leisurely lead to views of nature along the Mohawk River and through the Griffiss International Sculpture Garden. The entire ride is expected to take about two-hours. Participants are encouraged to wear their helmet and bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen. Reservations are not required for this free event but are strongly encouraged. Call 315-338-7730 by Friday, June 23 to reserve your spot or for more information.

The next event taking place at Fort Stanwix is a “Independence Day the 18th Century Way”on Tuesday, July 4. A full schedule of park events can be found on www.nps.gov/fost. All park events are free.

Fort Stanwix National Monument is open seven days a week. The reconstructed fort is open 9:30 am-4:30 pm each day. The park visitor’s center is open Wednesday-Sunday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
