Middletown, Va.— The National Park Service, Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation, and Belle Grove, Inc. will offer the tour “Partners in Preservation” on Saturday, June 24 and August 19 at 2 p.m. Three stops on a guided driving tour of the park give visitors a behind-the-scenes look at how partner organizations work together to preserve Cedar Creek Battlefield, Belle Grove Plantation, and other parts of Shenandoah Valley history.

Meet at Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation’s Museum and Visitor Center, 8437 Valley Pike (US Route 11), just south of Middletown, Virginia. The tour will follow the ranger’s car from the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation museum to Belle Grove’s archeology exhibit “Unearthing Enslaved Lives at Belle Grove” and the Bowman-Hite farmstead being preserved by the National Park Service. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and covers 5 miles of driving. The road to Bowman-Hite Farm is not suitable for RVs or buses.

“Partners in Preservation” is free. Reservations are not required. Call the National Park Service at (540) 869-3051 or e-mail cebe_information@nps.gov for more information.

Established in 2002, Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park is a partnership between the National Park Service and five non-federal organizations.
