About the Confluence Gallery
The refuge’s Confluence Gallery, located in the Bloomington Education and Visitor Center, is a venue for emerging and established Minnesota-based artists who reflect the community and excel at creating artwork with a focus on nature and natural elements, ecology, conservation, and/or the beauty of the Minnesota River Valley. The Confluence Gallery aims to serve as a conduit between the natural world and the local community; inspiring, educating, and connecting refuge visitors to the natural world.
Currently on Display: June 16 - August 20
Gidibaajimomin - 'We Tell Stories' by Gordon Coons
Gordon Coons work comes from his heritage of Ojibwe. He uses his traditional Ojibwe clan animal stories to educate people about our shared relationship with the natural world. He creates Ojibwa stories of celestial events, animals, and man by painting in the Ojibwa Woodland art style, reduction block prints, and transferring cedar smoke to paper. His creations are a journey to a better place by creating a stronger relationship between animals and nature, read for more details on visiting the exhibit.
