ROGERS, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office is closing the swim beach at Dam Site Lake Island on Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas until further notice. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by project office personnel.

USACE has posted signs indicating high bacteria levels at this location. Swimming is not recommended in areas with high bacteria levels. Once bacteria levels are within the acceptable range the swim beach will reopen.

The Dam Site Day Use Peninsula and Indian Creek Day Use Area located near the Dam Site Lake Campground have open swim beaches that can be used during the closure.

For more information on the status of other recreation areas contact the Beaver Lake Project Office at 479-636-1210.

Recreation information can be found on the Internet at www.swl.usace.army.mil, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/littlerockusace and on Twitter at www.twitter.com/usacelittlerock.
