The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 7. It is reproduced in full below.

Huntley Meadows Park, a Fairfax County Park Authority site, located in Fairfax County, VA provides one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the Northern Virginia area. The park features a 40-acre wetland, forests, and meadows. Huntley Meadows Park is managed for its natural and cultural resources. Historic Huntley and its outbuildings circa 1825 are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and provides hilltop views of Huntley Meadows Park. Naturalist and Historian led programs and events are available at both Huntley sites.

The park offers outstanding passive visitor activities: trail walking, running/jogging is not permitted on the boardwalk but is permissible on other trails, pets are not permitted in the boardwalk area (even if you carry them) or the Restoration Trail, but pets on leash are permitted on other park trails, strollers permitted (no pets in boardwalk zone), trails are ADA accessible. Biking is only permitted on the Hike/Bike Trail (1 mile). All other recreation activities are prohibited, including fishing. Visitor adherence to park rules makes a significant difference to wildlife watching opportunities and to providing a healthy, safe habitat for the plants and animals that live here.
