The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 12. It is reproduced in full below.

Fort Boykin is a small, forested park in Isle of Wight County, Virginia which overlooks the James River. The site’s history dates to 1623 when the colonizers at Jamestown constructed a triangular fort to protect themselves from attacks by the original inhabitants of the land, the Warraskoyack. Since then, the fort was gradually rebuilt, expanded, and involved in numerous military actions, including the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. Today, the fort remains intact as a well-preserved example of military architecture, with visitors able to explore the fort and surrounding trails.
