The following press releases was published by the Bureau of Land Management on Aug. 9. It is reproduced in full below.

SALT LAKE CITY - The Bureau of Land Management today opened a 30-day public comment period for a supplemental environmental assessment to consider leasing 59 oil and gas parcels totaling 121,548.98 acres in southern Utah. The comment period will close at 4:30 p.m. MT on Sept. 8, 2023.

The decisions to lease these parcels were challenged in court after BLM auctioned the parcels in competitive oil and gas lease sales in September and December 2018. In accordance with a settlement agreement, BLM is seeking public comments to consider whether to affirm the 2018 decision to approve the leases, amend and affirm the leases with revised terms, or cancel all or a portion of the leases.

Please visit the BLM National NEPA Register to submit comments electronically and for additional information and associated documents.

For additional information please contact Nathan Packer at npacker@blm.gov.
