The following press releases was published by the Bureau of Land Management on Aug. 10. It is reproduced in full below.

Rawlins, Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Carbon County Weed and Pest Control District are treating invasive cheatgrass near Baggs, Wyoming through the end of August.

Fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft will be used to apply an herbicide that targets the invasive annual grasses. Removing cheatgrass will improve wildlife habitat, watershed and vegetation health, and reduce wildfire risk. These treatments pose no threat to humans, wildlife or livestock and will be implemented in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.

The fixed-wing treatment unit lies south and east of Wild Horse Road (BLM Road 3309). The rotary-wing treatment unit lies along the west and south aspects of Muddy Mountain, south and east of the Wild Horse unit.

To help ensure crews can complete the operation as efficiently as possible, the public should avoid treatment units while the aircraft are spraying.
