Strong City, Kansas -Come see the 18th annual quilt display at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve over the Labor Day weekend, September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. This year’s display will feature quilts using the color blue. The quilts will be displayed in the historic barn from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days. Enjoy the fun activity of voting for your favorite quilt. On Monday, September 4th at 1 p.m., the winner will be announced.

If you have a quilt you would like to display, please call the preserve at 620-273-8494 (ext. 270) and drop the quilt(s) at the Visitor Center the week of August 28th, allowing time for the staff to process each quilt. Each quilt should have the following information: design name, quilt maker/owner, year it was created, and any other interesting information you would like to share. Quilts may be picked up after the display is over beginning September 5th.

Enjoy the Labor Day weekend and make a day of it by creating some family memories. Take a hike to see the bison, visit the newly rehabilitated 1881 limestone mansion, take one of the ranger guided tours, bring a picnic lunch, and see the fabric masterpieces in the beautiful barn setting. Come to the park and make it your own.
