KOTZEBUE, AK - The National Park Service at the Western Arctic National Parklands is recruiting for a Subsistence Liaison.

Must be a Current or Former Resident of the NANA Region, and willing to live in Ambler, Kiana, OR Noatak.

Position will be filled in either Ambler, Kiana, OR Noatak. Location will be determined based on the residency of the applicant chosen for the job and will primarily work out of home village. Can expect periodic travel to Kotzebue and other villages in the NANA Region, as well as the parks’ backcountry.

Job Duties Include:

* Serve as liaison between the NPS and local tribes, communities, other organizations, and park visitors.

* Provide expertise and advise to park staff on subsistence, local, and community issues and concerns.

* Provide education outreach to schools, visitors, and other groups.

* Represent the NPS at community and tribal meetings in villages.

* Assist NPS researchers, maintenance, law enforcement, and other park staff in the backcountry.

* Monitor and report conditions of park resources.

* May operate NPS boats, snowmachines, ATVs and other motor vehicles and will fly as a passenger in Bush aircraft to access parks and assist/guide NPS staff during field operations.

Benefits:

* Wage: (GS-09) $30.85 to $40.10 per hour plus a 3.53% Cost of Living Allowance
