Have an adventure AND help the park monitor ecosystem recovery after a wildfire? Sounds like a win-win!
In 2020, the Woodward Fire burned just over 5,000 acres of Point Reyes National Seashore. In the year following, five photomonitoring points were installed across the burn zone. Each site varies in how intensely it burned and what kind of habitat it captures. When you come across one of these points, you are invited to take a photo and submit it to the email listed on the sign. Your photo is then added to all the others taken at this location, and the you recieve an email with more information about the site and a timelapse showing fire recovery, generated by community scientists just like you!
