The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 1. It is reproduced in full below.

Due to continued flooding as a result of Hurricane Idalia, Moores Creek National Battlefield will remain closed through September 4, 2023. This will include all park trails and roads. A determination will be made about park operations for Tuesday September 5, pending a thorough investigation of the safety of the park.
