Jemez Springs, NM - On Thursday, Aug. 23, 2023, one of Valles Caldera’s wonderful volunteers, Dr. Bill Sayre, received the 2022 George and Helen Hartzog Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. You can watch the award ceremony on this web page: Live Events | U.S. Department of the Interior (doi.gov).
Bill has been a huge help to staff and park visitors alike. He helps visitors make the most of their visit, teaches visitors and employees about the rich geologic story of the park, supports the development of upcoming new interpretive media, and has played an important role in charting the course of the interpretation and education program over the coming years.
