Manhattan Project National Historical Park rangers and REACH Museum educators are partnering to bring Junior Ranger Park Explorer programs to different neighborhood parks in Richland throughout the summer.


Acadia National Park to complete emergency culvert repairs

Starting Tuesday, June 20, the one-way 0.7-mile segment of Park Loop Road between the intersection with Kebo Street and Sieur de Monts in Bar Harbor will be temporarily closed to all users, including motor vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles, for emergency culvert repairs.

ERDC Researchers Co-lead Multiagency Team to Service Prototype Underwater Acoustic Deterrent System

Researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), along with scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other partners, are currently working on a project to test the effectiveness of underwater sound technology on invasive carps — Bighead Carp, Silver Carp, Black Carp and Grass Carp — and the response of various native species of interest throughout the Mississippi River and Great Lakes basins, as well as additional native watersheds.

Sun Point

News Release: BAR HARBOR, MAINE - The National Park Service (NPS) is offering a 10-year concession business opportunity for narrated interpretive bus tours and transportation in Acadia National Park. The contract can be awarded to up to three operators. The contract(s) is expected to be effective beginning in 2024.


Big Bend - GTSR

East Tunnel

News Release: This 408-foot tunnel was one of the most difficult challenges in the entire construction of Going-to-the-Sun Road, carving through Piegan mountain.


West Tunnel

News Release: Between 1926 and 1927, laborers constructed this tunnel on the west side of Going-to-the-Sun road. It is an engineering marvel, taking vehicles through a steep cliff, while featuring two observation windows to view Heavens Peak and McDonald Creek.
