Hike Monocacy National Battlefield’s newest trails on August 25!
News Release: FREDERICK, Md.- Celebrate the National Park Service’s (NPS) birthday at Monocacy National Battlefield with a hike on our new and improved trails! On August 25 at 10 a.m., the park will officially open two new trails and a revitalized trail system with a project orientation followed by park ranger-guided hikes.

NPS Seeks Public Input to Help Improve Visitor Experiences at Glacier National Park
News Release: WEST GLACIER, Mont. [Aug. 16, 2023] - Glacier National Park is seeking public feedback through Sept. 30, 2023, on how visitors will access and experience the park in 2024. The park will host a series of virtual and in-person public meetings in late August to provide information from the past vehicle reservation pilot programs and answer questions. The public input from this process will be used to inform a strategy for summer 2024.

BLM to begin restoration work at the Sacramento River Bend
News Release: REDDING, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management will begin watershed restoration and infrastructure improvements within the Sacramento River Bend Area of Critical Environmental Concern in Tehama County, near the town of Bend. Paynes Creek Crossing parking area access will be limited for public safety from Aug, 21 to early November for the improvements.

Mount Rainier National Park parkwide fire ban goes into effect Friday, August 18, 2023
News Release: ASHFORD, Wash. - Beginning Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 until rescinded, Mount Rainier National Park will implement a parkwide fire ban for all campfires and the ignition of wood, briquettes, or any fuel in fire pits, fire pans, and barbeque grills. This ban is in place to reduce the risk of human-caused wildland fire area-wide during hot, dry conditions and high fire danger.

Reclamation awards $29.9 million to the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District for Harvest Water
News Release: SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Reclamation recently awarded the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District $29.9 million to help fund Harvest Water. The recycled water program will provide a safe and reliable supply of tertiary-treated water to agriculture and habitat lands in southern Sacramento County, while also reducing the reliance on groundwater pumping and resulting in increased groundwater levels.

Urban Archeology Corps
News Release: The Urban Archeology Corps (UAC) is a national program for paid work experiences in NPS archeology. Its aims are: 1) support youth employment in archeology; 2) increase diversity, equality, and inclusion within the field; 3) create a pipeline for employment to federal service; and 4) complete archeological projects. Since the program's start in 2012, over 200 people have held internships to do archeological work in NPS parks.

Yellowstone visitation statistics for July 2023
News Release: MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY - Yellowstone National Park hosted 969,692 recreation visits in July 2023. This is a 63% increase from July 2022 (596,562 recreational visits) and a 4% increase from July 2019* (936,062 recreation visits).
