Great Smoky Mountains National Park and partners to offer adaptive programs
News Release: GATLINBURG, Tenn.- Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in partnership with Knox County, Catalyst Sports, and Friends of the Smokies, will make public lands more accessible for visitors of all abilities by offering three adaptive programs this summer. Rangers and volunteers will lead one biking and two hiking programs using off-road wheelchairs and adaptive mountain bikes on three trails evaluated for adaptive equipment.

Golden Gate National Recreation Area announces environmental assessment for city-managed Ocean Beach project
News Release: SAN FRANCISCO-In support of work to mitigate shoreline erosion and the effects of sea level rise, Golden Gate National Recreation Area has begun an environmental assessment for the City of San Francisco’s Ocean Beach Climate Change Adaptation Project. By granting the city an easement to construct a seawall and associated infrastructure, a nearby wastewater system will be protected and existing public access to the southern portion of Ocean Beach will be preserved.

Dingmans Falls Trail repairs begin July 18
News Release: BUSHKILL, PA- On Monday, July 18, the trail crew at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will begin the final stage of repairs to the Dingmans Falls boardwalk trail, a quarter-mile trail that leads to Silverthread and Dingmans Falls. Work on the trail began last summer.

Rainbow Fire
News Release: Sedro Woolley, WA - Following a recent storm pattern with numerous lightning strikes, a fire is active in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area within North Cascades National Park Service Complex. The 0.25-acre Rainbow Fire was detected Monday. Park officials have closed the Boulder Creek Trail from the junction with the Rainbow Loop and the War Creek trails, as well as Hooter, Rennie, and Reynolds Hiker and Stock camps, due to visitor safety concerns.

Bald Eagle Nesting Areas Reopened in Voyageurs National Park
News Release: INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MN: Voyageurs National Park is reopening the breeding areas around three (3) of the park’s bald eagle nests to campers and other human activities. After recent aerial surveys, it was determined that the nesting efforts failed when no eaglets were detected. Of 50 nests surveyed in the park in April 2023, 23 were occupied by breeding eagles. Additional flights will be conducted in late July to determine how many nests produced fledged chicks.
