BLM advances clean energy in California

News Release: PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management has approved the Sunlight Storage II Battery Energy Storage System in Riverside County to add up to 300 megawatts for a total 530 megawatts of energy storage capacity provided to the state power grid from the Desert Sunlight Solar Farm, another step toward meeting the Biden-Harris administration’s goal of achieving a carbon-free electric grid by 2035.


BLM MAKES RURAL HISTORIC SITE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

News Release: LAKEVIEW, Ore. - Two-hours east of the small town of Lakeview, OR is the Historic Shirk Ranch. The ranch is so remote that even most local residents have never made the drive to see the site. Wanting to make the site accessible to everyone, the BLM Lakeview Field Office teamed up with CyArk to create a virtual experience where visitors can learn about David Shirk and the history of early ranching in southeast Oregon.

Army Corps invites public comment on shoreline protection plan at Ofu Airport

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Honolulu District, in partnership with the American Samoa Department of Port Administration (DPA) is announcing the release of a Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (IFR/EA) which identifies a proposed plan for shoreline protection at the Ofu Airport in American Samoa.

Road maintenance and restoration work to cause delays on Davison Road in Redwood National and State Parks

News Release: Crescent City, CA- Redwood National and State Parks staff will perform road grading and forest restoration projects along Davison Road in late May and June this year. The associated work will cause some delays and closures to the access points for Gold Bluff Beach, Gold Bluff Beach Campground, and Fern Canyon.


Rogue River Trail Repairs Completed

News Release: Grants Pass, Ore. - The BLM has mitigated the landslide on the Rogue River Trail at trail mile 21.5, approximately one mile upstream from the Rogue River Ranch. The landslide had compromised approximately 150 feet of the trail. This week, BLM’s Veteran Firefighting Crew 10 completed the work needed to re-open the trail. They hiked the trail from Grave Creek to the Rogue River Ranch and cut out downed trees along the way.


Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center to reopen daily Memorial Day weekend, tours return in June

News Release: HUNGRY HORSE, Mont. - Starting May 25, 2023, the Bureau of Reclamation’s Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain Time. The outdoor, guided walking tours will resume June 16.
