Bureau of Land Management to Revise Analysis for the Alton Coal Lease in Utah

In response to a court-ordered remand issued in Utah Physicians For A Healthy Env’t v. United States BLM, 528 F. Supp. 3d 1222 (D. Utah 2021), the Bureau of Land Management is initiating a process to revise aspects of the environment impact statement that supported the lease sale that resulted in the issuance of Alton Coal Development’s coal lease, UTU-81895, on public lands in Kane County, Utah.

Manchin Announces $3 Million for West Virginia University Research Corporation Project to Help Decarbonize Food and Beverage Industry

On June 15, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, announced $3 million through the U.S. Department of Energy to fund a project at West Virginia University (WVU) Research Corporation that will focus on developing an innovative fuel-flexible boiler capable of using fuels like hydrogen and natural gas to help decarbonize the food and beverage industry.


Reclamation and National Resources Conservation Service award $6 million for Klamath Basin salmon recovery

The Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service announced today 11 projects totaling $6 million to be awarded as part of three Klamath Basin Salmon Restoration grant programs. Partnering with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to administer funds, the grants will be combined with $9,395,146 in matching contributions for a total conservation impact of nearly $15 million.

Interior Department Proposes Rule to Bolster Solar and Wind Development on Public Lands, Continue Progress on Efficient and Responsible Permitting

News Release: WASHINGTON - The Department of the Interior today announced a proposed update of its renewable energy regulations to promote the development of solar and wind energy on public lands. The Bureau of Land Management’s proposed Renewable Energy Rule would reduce fees for these projects by around 80%, facilitate development in priority areas by streamlining review of applications, and deliver greater certainty for the private sector.
