News Release: Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments will be CLOSED starting Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, in anticipation of severe weather and potential impacts from Tropical Storm Idalia. While the storm track is unpredictable, based on existing information, park officials have decided to err on the side of caution and focus on visitor, volunteer, and staff safety by this preemptive closure.


BLM to conduct wild horse gather in West Douglas Herd Area

News Release: MEEKER, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will begin a wild horse gather on September 1 in the West Douglas Herd Area approximately 20 miles south of Rangely in Rio Blanco County. The BLM plans to remove the entire estimated population of 122 wild horses from the herd area, state, and private land. The appropriate management level for wild horses in this area is zero.

Whale Waters Update for Glacier Bay Effective August 29th, 2023

News Release: BARTLETT COVE, ALASKA - Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve Acting Superintendent Tom Schaff announced today that the 13-knot vessel speed limit for all vessels in Berg Bay is lifted due to a lack of whale sightings in that area. These updated operating requirements, shown on the enclosed map, are effective from 5 AM Tuesday August 29th until further notice. The following whale waters areas remain in effect.


Public Meetings Offered for Rock Springs Draft Resource Management Plan

News Release: Rock Springs, WY - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) encourages the public to participate in public meetings discussing the Rock Springs Draft Environmental Impact Statement and Resource Management Plan (DEIS/RMP).
