Yellowbottom Campground opening delayed due to safety concerns

News Release: Eugene, Ore. - Bureau of Land Management recreation managers are delaying the seasonal opening of the Yellowbottom Campground, located about 20 miles outside of Sweet Home. BLM staff inspected the campground ahead of its scheduled spring opening and found several potential safety hazards.


Darren Belskis selected as chief ranger of Acadia National Park

News Release: Bar Harbor, Maine - Acadia National Park superintendent Kevin Schneider announced the selection of Darren Belskis as chief ranger of Acadia National Park. Belskis is currently the park’s deputy chief ranger.


Gulf Islands National Seashore Closes For Weather Recovery

Studhorse Prescribed Fire 2023

News Release: Yosemite Fire is assessing conditions to conduct prescribed burning operations in the Studhorse area (south of the Wawona Hotel) next week. If conditions allow, active burning may take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 and Thursday, April 20, 2023. Fire crews plan to target approximately 150 acres on the northeastern side of the Wawona Road (highway 41) and will have traffic control in place.


The Curtiss "Pusher"

News Release: The Curtiss "Pusher" was the first mass produced airplane, and is a hallmark of early aviation during the 1911-1914 time period. It was designed by Glenn H. Curtiss, and built by the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company of Hammondsport, New York.

BLM approves WYDOT temporary housing lease

News Release: PINEDALE, Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office has approved a proposal submitted by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) to use a parcel of BLM managed lands for temporary worker housing while completing a highway project in Teton County, Wyoming. The parcel, known as “Parcel 26," is currently being used as a staging area for construction on Highway 189/191.

Civilian Conservation Corps Encampment

News Release: ELVERSON - Hopewell Furnace invites you to join in commemorating the beginning of National Park Week with a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) encampment on site Saturday and Sunday April 22nd - 23rd. Programming on Saturday, April 22nd will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with programming Sunday, April 23rd running from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All programming is free to the public.


City Nature Challenge at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site

News Release: SAUGUS, MA - Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site and the Saugus River Watershed Council invite you to a City Nature Challenge event on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Saugus Iron Works.
