Youth Conservation Corps applications now available
This summer, Joshua Tree National Park will sponsor a 6-week Youth Conservation Corps program. Youths between the ages of 15 and 18 are encouraged to apply.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore) is recruiting a virtual Teacher-Ranger-Teacher (TRT) to spend the summer collaborating with rangers to develop education programs. Applications received by April 8 will receive first consideration.

National Park Service announces Mile Creek bridge construction and road realignment
Based on the analysis presented in the environmental assessment, public input, NPS internal deliberation and analysis, and consultation with the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the NPS has selected Alternative B for implementation which will remove an existing blind curve, a portion of the original asphalt would be left in place as a walking path, and the road would be re-routed across a new bridge.

Beginning March 27, 2023, and continuing through April, park officials plan to burn piles of dead vegetation at various locations within Arches and Canyonlands national parks.

Aggressive animals reported near Lock 34
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park rangers have received reports of several racoons behaving abnormally near Lock 34 (mile 61.5) which may be a sign of rabies. Anyone who has had physical contact with raccoons in this area is advised to seek immediate medical evaluation.
