Walker Sisters Cabin renovations complete

News Release: GATLINBURG, Tenn.- Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials are pleased to announce that the Walker Sisters Cabin is once again open to the public. The park closed the two-story cabin in late 2021 while the park’s Forever Places crew addressed safety concerns and completed renovations. The crew, a team of skilled carpenters and masons, replaced the roof and portions of the wall timbers, stabilized the foundation, added new floorboards, and restored the fireplace.

Lake Mead NRA experiences six fatalities over Father’s Day Weekend

News Release: BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA) saw multiple fatalities both on land and water this past weekend. Three people were killed in a multiple-car accident, two died by drowning, and one died of an apparent suicide. In addition, 23 people were rescued by park rangers, who also responded to criminal incidents, including assault, theft, and drug use.
